The Digital Health Challenge is organized by Medical Valley in Nuremberg. Medical Valley is a cluster initiative supported by various companies, startups and other institutions from the healthcare sector.
In 2018 the cluster organized it´s first Hackathon in cooperation with Health Hackers e.V. and Zollhof Incubator. NovelSense participated with a team consisting three people including two healthcare students from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
The Hackathon offered three challenges:
1) “Master the Maze of Health Care Institutions” – Optimize the process flow within hospitals.
2) “Health Hack Your Home” – Support eldery with new technologies in their home.
3) “Discharge Into a Healthier Life” – Optimize the handling of medication after a patient is released from hospital.
The NovelSense team proposed a solution to track movements of doctors and patients in a hospital using an Ultra-wideband RTLS. During three days, the team constructed a working prototype of the system and showcased a live demo for the final pitch.
A jury consisting of representatives from partner companies and participating clusters awarded NovelSense a prize as “Overall winner” of the Hackathon.
